Well, I have finally given into the temptation and started a Live Journal account, thus violating a personal principle (which I will not presently explain) that I would not start a blog or LJ this year. Unfortunately, an all-nighter of typing out frustrations into the word processing program (and the subsequent lack of judgment resulting from sleep deprivation), has led me to abandon this particular principle in order to post these thoughts publicly. In my half-awake state of mind, it seems almost an interesting experiment to see just how much attention a new Live Journal actually gets. Given the post that will follow, I'm curious how many nasty (or friendly) responses I'll get (if any), because for some strange reason this seems like a really good empirical experiment.

Of course, several hours from now (after I have hopefully gotten a few more hours of sleep), I'm sure I'll look at my posts and say, "What the heck was I thinking?", but for now it sounds like a perfectly rational idea.

So enjoy my first post (this one) and, for those of you who inadvertently stumbled across this, feel free to ignore my second one (or not), as it will be a post written from a night of frustration.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and just wait for the hate mail to roll in. The truth of the matter is, I hate the idea of “objective morality”. There. I’ve said it. Now both the atheists AND the Christians can hate me. Oh, and let’s not forget the other theists, and a whole passel of agnostics. Encourage More Hate )

Me, not knowing how Live Journals worked, thought that my very first (introductory) entry would be posted first, and the second entry I posted would come...well, second. So anyone trying to make sense of the (actual) first post (which has now fallen to place #3 in the journal order) should understand that the order I was referring to was the actual writing order, not the way they ended up being posted.

Actually, having glanced at the length of the second LJ entry, I'm pretty sure no one will read it. The internet tends to be a fairly single-serving culture, and that entry would need to be taken in several sittings.

On a side note, I finally understood the meaning of the word "blog". It comes from the morphing together of the late-night/early-morning haven't-had-my-coffee expressions "blah" and "arg", especially if you say the last undignified expression in a dignified British accent.

Ok. Me need sleep. Me not sure big bad sentences make sense.
