McCain's concession speech was an incredible reminder to me of why I ever wanted to vote for him in the first place -- a reasonable man who is intelligent and knows how to bridge the gap between differing opinions, just as I perceive Obama to be.
It was sad to me to see McCain cater so much toward the far right for the purposes of getting elected. It was an even bigger blow to my confidence in him when he picked his running mate.
Now that the politics are over for him, his true nature is once again coming out, and it makes me long for the days when the runner-up to the Presidential elections would become the Vice President. An Obama/McCain combination would have been a truly spectacular thing for this country indeed.
Too bad that kind of ticket would never happen in this country...
