Downward Spiral
Oct. 11th, 2006 03:36 amI just finished watching the anime series Spiral: Suiri no Kizuna, and for anyone interested in watching it, I highly recommend skipping it.
The premise itself is good, and for about the first four disks the story is excellent because it promises such great things. Ayumu Narumi is a young boy who is a genius at almost everything he does. But his older brother Kiyotaka, who is currently missing, was always better than Ayumu. Unable to live up to his brother's reputation, Ayumu perpetually lives in self doubt.
While trying to find his older brother, Ayumu becomes entangled with a mysterious group of people called "The Blade Children" who are supposedly cursed. At first, they seem bent on destroying Ayumu, but as the series progresses they form a wary truce and begin to help one another. The plot revolves primarily around Ayumu's quest to understand who the Blade Children are, and what their link to Kiyotaka is. ( Spiraling downward... )
